The global sport phenomenon that has come to North America. I had the privilege of working on the opens, transitions, and full-screens for this major sporting event for all local news stations under the TEGNA umbrella. In this project I worked on all United States cities that the games would be played in and for the stations that are in those areas. Creating the openings showcase some historical photos of FIFA as well as unique designs for each state that is based on the FIFA design guidelines.
Because of my work and initiative on the sports rebrand project I was now tasked with FIFA 2026. I need to create opens, transitions, and full screen graphics for each city that will be, and was hosting the world cup. I created opens based on, and inspired by, the FIFA 2026 graphics. I created openings for Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle. I was allotted 5 days to work on this project so I had to move pretty quickly to get everything done.
Each city had a unique feel and I wanted that to be represented in each graphic. I studied FIFA’s designs so that I could pull in the same feel to TEGNA so that the branding didn’t feel out of place but was unique to TEGNA.
For the final design I wanted to pull in photos over the 100+ years of FIFA history and make each piece unique to each city with color, shapes, and design. The main FIFA opening and graphics brought in its own unique style that would distinguish it from the other ones.
After the Five days and a couple checks the project came together successfully and is about to be and was used for coverage leading up to the World Cup.
